About Springfield

Springfield is a Primary School for children from 4 to 11 years of age. It serves a small catchment area on the outskirts of the town of St Helier.

We are a one-form entry school with children from Nursery through to Year 6.  However, in September 2016 Springfield School welcomed a double-form of Reception intake.   The school has grown since it was formally opened in September 1995, when at that time, there was only one Reception class of 24. The total number of children is now 216 plus 26 Nursery children.

Our motto – Care, Aspire, Achieve – underpins everything that is ‘Springfield’. We show ‘Care’ by encouraging an atmosphere where everyone feels safe, listened to and respected. We try to make the environment as welcoming as possible for all our community and endeavour to make sure it is looked after by the children. Our children benefit from ‘Aspirational’ opportunities – sleepovers at castles and museums, very many trips, learning French from Reception are some of the exciting opportunities afforded to our children. As a result of children and families feeling cared for, having exciting aspirational opportunities whereby everyone is encouraged and supported to be their personal best, our children Achieve great things…and we do like to celebrate our successes!

As well as providing an attractive environment for everybody, we aim to ensure that Springfield is a safe, secure and stimulating setting in which children’s learning can flourish. We are continually working hard to develop our learning environment, both inside and outside the school building. The School has created numerous learning areas outside of the classrooms where children are supported in their learning, and can also work with a greater degree of independence and trust.

Springfield School is part of a cluster of schools which include the Primary Schools of Janvrin, Trinity, St Martin, Grands Vaux, St John, St Saviour and Grainville Secondary School. We meet together on a termly basis to share professional expertise and discuss matters of mutual concern and benefit.

Springfield School is also part of a tri-school partnership, working closely with Janvrin and Samares Primary Schools. This relationship is a developing opportunity for children and teachers to work together on a mutually collaborative and supportive basis, supporting our combined commitment to continually raise standards in all areas across the three schools.
